Benvenuti all’italiano! – A 10-Week Italian Adventure

In Term 1 Over 10 weeks, our 6th class pupils enjoyed an exciting introduction to the Italian language and culture, as part of the Say Yes to Languages sampler programme and the Modern Foreign Languages element of the Primary Language Curriculum.

Through songs, games, role-play, quizzes and creative projects, the children have learned how to greet one another, introduce themselves, count in Italian, talk about colours, family, hobbies, food, the weather and places in their town. They also had opportunities to practise their language skills through partner conversations, surveys and our very own Italian café!

The programme has been a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop their confidence in speaking another language while discovering more about Italian culture, food, music and traditions. 10 of the boys got an opportunity to practice their italian skills on our trip to Florence as part of our Erasmus programme.

A big grazie to all our pupils for their enthusiasm and participation. We hope these photographs give you a flavour of some of the fun we have had along the way!

Bravissimi, ragazzi! 👏

Bonjour! – Exploring French in 5th Class

Our 5th Class pupils also enjoyed an introduction to the French language and culture as part of our language-learning programme.

Through a variety of interactive games, songs, conversations, quizzes and creative activities, the children developed their confidence in using French in a fun and engaging way. They have been learning useful everyday language while also discovering more about French-speaking countries, culture and traditions.

The programme has provided plenty of opportunities for pupils to listen, speak, work together and have fun with language, helping them to see that learning a new language can be both enjoyable and rewarding.

We are delighted to see the enthusiasm and confidence that the children have shown throughout the programme.

Bravo, 5th Class!
