REPORT OF THE BOARD OF MANAGEMENT OCTOBER 2017
School Attendance Strategy
The Board has recognised the development of a school attendance strategy as a priority for the coming year. The Board will liaise with An TUSLA – the Child & Family agency. Beaumont Boys will continue to build on ways of promoting good attendance such as presentation of attendance certificates at assemblies.
A new student council is being elected for this year. The Board is happy to announce that the council’s proposal to install a water fountain for students use is being implemented and the new fountain will be in operation shortly.
Continuous Professional Development
Staff at Beaumont Boys will have access to a variety of CPD such as STEM (Science / Technology / Engineering / Maths), mindfulness, Local History, playground games this year.
We have a new Drama teacher delivering a 6 week block of drama to classes. We have football coaches teaching fundamental movement skills. There is an array of after school activities available ranging from drama, and Tae Kwon Do to chess and guitar lessons.
Halloween Sponsored Walk
Fundraising as a result of our sponsored walk will be used to purchase concrete materials for Maths and Science lessons. The student council will investigate options for playground equipment and a library wall is also planned.
Summer Works Project
Our school was approved for a new roof under the Summer Works Scheme. The work on the new roof is now completed. The Board is delighted that the new roof is completed ahead of the Winter months.
Plans are being prepared for the celebration of our schools 50th Anniversary. It will be celebrated during the week of April 16th – 20th. The Board, Parents’ Association and staff members are liaising and coming up with some wonderful ideas to mark this special occasion.
