The Board of Management is pleased to share the following updates and highlights from school life.
📋 Policy & School Development
Bí Cineálta Policy
The Bí Cineálta Policy has been reviewed in line with current guidance and the needs of our school community.
School Self-Evaluation (SSE)
We will begin the introduction of the new curricular areas in September starting with the Arts Curriculum, this includes the subject areas of Visual Art, Music and Drama. Our School Self-Evaluation targets will be linked to the Arts.
🤝 Partnership Schools Ireland
Beaumont continues its involvement with Partnership Schools Ireland.
In June 2026, a new Action Team, made up of parents, staff, pupils and community representatives, participated in two mornings of training. The team identified four key improvement goals to support the School Plan.
School Improvement Goal 1 – Curriculum (Arts)
To enhance pupil creativity, collaboration, wellbeing and engagement through a whole-school arts production in 2026/7 school year that integrates Visual Arts, Drama and Music. The project will provide meaningful opportunities for pupil voice, creative expression, performance and community involvement.
School Improvement Goal 2 – Positive Behaviour, Wellbeing and Inclusion
To improve pupil wellbeing, engagement, positive behaviour and social interaction through:
- Interest-based yard zones
- Increased pupil choice during break times
- Enhanced wet-day activities
- Meaningful involvement of pupils, parents and the wider community
School Improvement Goal 3 – Active Community Partnerships & Outdoor Learning
To strengthen partnerships between the school, parents, local businesses and community organisations through the development of an all-weather free play and outdoor learning area linked to the school garden and outdoor classroom.
This project aims to provide increased opportunities for:
- Exploration and creativity
- Environmental learning
- Wellbeing and free play
- Curriculum-based outdoor learning
School Improvement Goal 4 – Curriculum
This goal will be developed through the School Self-Evaluation process beginning in September 2026.
Parent and Pupil Engagement
Partnership Schools Ireland support:
- Increased parental engagement in children’s learning
- Stronger school-home communication
- Active community partnerships
🗣️ Pupil Voice & Leadership
Student Council
Our Student Council continues to play an active role in school life. During this term members:
- Assisted with New Infant Induction Day
- Supported Grandparents Day
- Participated in Partnership Schools Ireland Training
- Contributed to school improvement discussions
The Board acknowledges the valuable contribution of pupil voice in shaping school initiatives and activities.
🌍 Wellbeing & Environmental Initiatives
Beaumont Goes Green / Clean Day
Our Beaumont Goes Green and Clean Day was a wonderful success. Pupils showed great leadership and environmental awareness through activities both within the classroom, school building and grounds.
We have completed our 3 year School Self Evaluation plan for Wellbeing, the report is now available to view on our website.
👶 Welcoming New Families
Infant Induction Day
Our Infant Induction Day took place on 27th May. We were delighted to welcome our incoming Junior Infants and their families.
The Board would also like to acknowledge the support of:

for helping make the day such a positive experience for new families.

Grandparents Day
A memorable Grandparents Day was enjoyed by pupils, families and visitors.

First Holy Communion Celebrations
The Parents’ Association kindly organised refreshments following the First Holy Communion celebrations. Their continued support in this annual tradition is greatly appreciated.
⛪ Faith Formation
Sixth Class Blessing Ceremony and School Mass
We extend our sincere thanks to Fr. Michael who invited our Sixth Class pupils to St. Michael’s Church for a special blessing ceremony and school Mass as they prepare to move on to post-primary education.
This was a meaningful occasion for pupils, families and staff.
🎵 Creative Arts
School Anthem
We are delighted that our School Anthem has been compiled in collaboration with GMC Beats.
The anthem reflects the values, spirit and identity of Beaumont National School and will be an important part of school celebrations in the future. The process was a collaboration bringing together input across the school and collated and recorded by the Creative Council.
🏆 Sporting Achievements
Slim Jim Tournament Champions
Congratulations to our pupils who won the Slim Jim Tournament this month.
Darren Smith Memorial Tournament Champions
Further sporting success was achieved when Beaumont won the Darren Smith Memorial Tournament.
Cork City Sports
We are extremely proud of our pupils who represented Beaumont at Cork City Sports.
Beaumont currently competes in Roinn A, the highest level of competition, and pupils represented the school with distinction both in competition and behaviour.
Well done to all athletes, coaches and staff involved.
🏀 School Facilities
Basketball Court Development
The Board wishes to sincerely thank the Parents’ Association for their fundraising efforts towards the development of the basketball court. It was installed recently and is in high demand!
This investment will provide valuable opportunities for sport, recreation and physical activity for all pupils.
🌞 School Life & Summer Activities
Sports Day and BBQ League
Our annual Sports Day and BBQ League were held on the same day and proved to be a fantastic success.
Pupils enjoyed a fun-filled day of sporting activities, teamwork and celebration, creating wonderful memories to conclude the school year.
Summer Programme
The school’s Summer Programme is currently being organised and will run from 29 June – 10 July.

🇪🇺 Languages & Erasmus+
Erasmus+
Beaumont continues to benefit from participation in the Erasmus+ Programme.
Highlights include:
- Three pupil mobility opportunities
- Continued international collaboration
- Funding successfully secured for the 2026/2027 school year
Say Yes to Languages
We are delighted that Beaumont has been approved to participate in the Say Yes to Languages Programme 2026/2027.
The programme will run for 10 weeks during Term 1 (September 28th – February 10th).
Language tuition will be provided by:
- Roberta Corrigan – French with Fifth Class
- Fiona Meehan – Italian with Sixth Class
This initiative provides pupils with valuable opportunities to engage with language learning and cultural awareness.

| Policy Development/ Curricular Development |
The following policies were reviewed and ratified in 2025 and uploaded to our school website
Our Admission’s Policy and Admission’s Notice will be added to the website before 1st October 2025 (pending Patron’s review)
Thank you to the staff, parents and pupils who contributed to the development/ review of policies.
In 2024/25 we focused on developing our outdoor education programme and worked on improving our physical environment within the school.
This year we continue to focus on embedding literacy and numeracy changes to reflect the revised primary curriculum. Staff will continue to receive training during the year on the rollout of the new primary curriculum. In addition we will continue to expand our outdoor education programme and look at opportunities to showcase our creativity through the performing arts and displaying pupil’s work throughout the school.
Our Bí Cineálta (anti-bullying) policy is now in place and we will communicate the changes in how we prevent and manage bullying behaviour with pupils and parents in line with national guidelines. We have a significant IT infrastructure in the school, all classes have interactive TVs and access to Ipads and chromebooks , great tools to enhance pupil engagement and learning. We are committed to maintaining and adding to our IT infrastructure again this year.

Building works
Considerable structural work to resolve the ‘damp wall’ at the stairwell on the north west side of the building was completed in 2025 along with installation of new windows and repainting of the external and internal areas adjacent. In addition areas of the roof were revisited and sealed to prevent further water damage to the building
.
A significant ventilation upgrade in rooms that were identified as having very poor air quality on the western side of the building was also completed in 2025.
Security upgrades
Recent security upgrades have been carried out in the school over the summer. These include the installation of a new camera doorbell system at the school office, which will help us to monitor and manage visitor access more effectively. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school a safe place for all.
PV Panels
We are delighted with the energy and financial savings the school has achieved since SE Systems installed our panels in March 2025. Our Green school committee have done great work in promoting the project and its benefits to the staff and pupils are happy to participate in a promotional video Beaumont’s Bright Future – A story of Clean Energy and Curious Minds highlighting the benefits of solar energy.
Outdoor Education Space
We are thrilled to announce the completion of our new Outdoor Education Classroom—a space designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning in the natural world. This project was made possible thanks to the dedication of our school community, whose fundraising efforts brought the plan to fruition , and to the generosity of our incredible anonymous donor, whose support ensured the project’s success. From bingo, fun run to halloween walk, every contribution played a role in securing our classroom. 3 of our brave school community are taking to the skies on the 21st September in our final outdoor classroom fundraiser. We are delighted to share that we have secured significant Erasmus funding to support our Outdoor Education program. This funding will allow us to expand opportunities for students to explore, learn, and develop valuable life skills through outdoor activities and international collaboration. It represents an exciting step forward in broadening horizons, building confidence, and strengthening our school’s commitment to holistic education.

The Boys represented their school in many disciplines this year: Sciath na Scol, Chess tournaments , Cork City Sports, Cor Fhéile, Peace Proms, soccer, basketball , Local History Projects to name but some. The BoM wishes to congratulate participant pupils & teachers. We plan on continuing to showcase the varied talents of our boys in the coming year.
Annual School BBQ – A Wonderful Return!
After a few years away, our Annual School BBQ returned – and what a fantastic success it was! We were delighted to see such a wonderful turnout, with families, staff, and pupils all coming together to enjoy great food, a lively atmosphere, fierce competition and a real sense of community.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and supported the event – it was a true celebration of school spirit.
Beaumont Boys School achieves a Gold Award in STEM !
A Gold Award in STEM is a prestigious recognition for schools or individuals demonstrating deep engagement and excellent practice in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In Ireland, the Science Foundation Ireland’s Curious Minds program offers a Gold Award to schools that embed whole-school, informal STEM learning beyond the basics, requiring evidence across various STEM disciplines and a student-led showcase.

We said goodbye to Eimear Nation at the end of June and we wish her well in her retirement.
We welcomed Eoin Hurley (teacher) and Carol Downey (ANA) to the team in Beaumont in September.
| Parental Involvement |
We would like to thank PA for the hugely successful support/fundraising efforts this year , especially the Halloween Disco, Family Bingo and Fun Run which were highlights in the school social calendar this year and which raised a substantial amount towards the cost of our new outdoor classroom. Our Parent Association Constitution 2025 is available to view on our website.
Throughout the year pupils have opportunities to take part in many events/ workshops and receive coaching from external professionals. This adds greatly to our pupils’ engagement with the curriculum and creates memories that will last a lifetime. However we would be unable to provide these ‘inschool activities’ experiences without the financial support of parents to subsidise associated costs.
The pie chart below shows how the funds collected contributed to events and activities during 2024/25. Some items are not included, as they were either free or heavily subsidised. Not every class participated in every activity. We sincerely thank parents for their continued financial support, which makes these opportunities possible.

Lord Mayor’s Visit – 16th September
On Monday, 16th September, we were honoured to welcome the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Fergal Dennehy, to our school as part of a long-standing Cork tradition. The Lord Mayor spoke to the pupils about kindness, community and looking after one another, and presented each child with a special bookmark to mark the occasion. It was a memorable and inspiring visit for all.
Future Technologies for Primary Level Students
We are delighted that our school has been invited to take part in an exciting research project run by Dr Cliodhna Sargent and the Nimbus Research Centre, MTU, with support from Research Ireland. Our 5th class pupils will attend a two-day workshop at Nimbus Research Centre, MTU Cork, during school hours. Transport will be provided.
