African Drumming Workshops December 2022
Musician and Tutor Patrick Naughton from African Drumming Ireland brought ‘the joy of music and rhythm’ to Beaumont Boys’ primary school over the last few weeks with his African Drumming workshops. Students from all classes enjoyed his dynamic and interactive workshops. Pat introduced the basic rhythmic concepts of West African and World percussion to our students through Drumming, Chanting, Singing, Body Percussion, Call and Response and Storytelling. Using the West African Djembe (pronounced djem – bay) the students assembled in the drum circle which is a safe, facilitated, non-competitive space where they learnt to explore our connection to Rhythm and Sound. We have a selection of photos and video of the workshops. Please do not download or share this content.
